Good evening. Taking care of baby's family. My name is Becky. You'll be spending the day with me tomorrow. And my daughter Hallie, she's eight months old. She's an acid reflux baby, and she's very fussy. So the reason that I'm coming at you tonight is because I have to stay up late to pump because I'm prone to clogs. And in the morning, Hallie has to have her medicine 30 minutes before her first meal. So what happens is my husband goes in and gives her her medicine because if she sees me in the morning, she thinks food and then she cries for 30 minutes and it's never good. So my husband goes and does that. So I sleep in a little bit to make up for having to stay up later because of the pumping. And then you'll get to spend the rest of the day with me and I'll take you through our day. I don't know how it's going to go. We had kind of a rough night tonight. It's a half an hour before Hallie's wake time, and I've just prepped some of her omeprazole and we'll go in there and give her the medication. Hey, Ally. Good morning. A peanut? Yeah. Ready for our first feeding with. Oh, there she is. Oh, okay. So we just finished eating and now we're gonna sit up for 15 minutes. It used to be 20, but now that she's a little older, we actually only have to wait 15, which actually makes a huge difference in the day. Okay. We are distracted practicing sitting. Got my foot behind her just in case she decides to flop back. Did not plan this, but reflux moms will know. I've got one, two to. Hi. So, as anticipated, we're going to have a little bit of a rough wake window. I kind of knew it was coming just by the night we had last night. And now she woke up. It's okay. Okay, let mama walk away. Nope. So I was gonna make myself some breakfast and a little something for her for solids. And we're just having a rough day. Say hi. No. I do feed Hallie again before she goes down for her nap, but she has a really bad rub rest at the breast. So I normally pump and then give her a bot because she can stay awake for that. But if I try and breastfeed her before I put her down for a nap, she falls asleep and I can't get her down for a nap, and it's usually a disaster. So I'm gonna pump real quick and I'll show you what I use to help me. I use a little bouncer thing and gonna be honest, she's probably gonna cry a little bit. So here we go. Okay, so I'm ready to pump and is in her bouncer right next to me. Put a couple extra toys on there to try and keep her entertained. If she gets upset, I just kind of use my foot to bounce her just to get the done as quickly as I can and to get that bottle ready. So I had a few tears while we were making the bottle, but we're okay now. So I put her in a clean diaper so that way she can finish her bottle and I can keep her upright. And that way she'll be ready for nap time and I don't have to lay her down and she will be very tired. So I usually pick out her favorite books to read to try and distract her to push the wake window just a little bit. We do edge a little longer in the morning just because we try and feed twice and do solids and there's a lot to do. So. Ready to read, Peaby? Yeah. Who's under the umbrella? Is that you? Peekaboo. I see you. Okay, you're almost ready for nap time. I know, I know. Gotta put on your sleep sack. I know you're sleepy. I know you're sleepy. Gotta put on your. And it's like the fog has lifted and at last I see the light and it's like sky is new and it's warm and real and bright and the world has somehow changed. So she was a little tired. As you could hear at the end. She started to cry, but I turned on her sound machine before I left and there's no more crying because she knows that it's nap time. So she should sleep for about two hours. She's a little cranky, so I might let her sleep a little bit longer. But we'll see how it goes. So while Holly's sleeping, I have some part time consulting work that I do. So I'll usually take the first half an hour of her nap to clean up the mess that we made. And then I'll work or do housework or whatever needs to get done. I just wanted to take it to talk to all the reflux moms out there. It did not used to be this easy when her reflux was really, really bad. When it peaked in that four to six month range, it was terrible. Every day was crying from the moment she woke up to the moment to sleep. And she's always been on meds and it was still that bad. So I just want to give you some encouragement that you can do this and it will get better. And I'm so sorry it's so hard, but I'm on the other side. Reflux. And I'm here to tell you you can do this and it's. You can do it. Just keep pushing through every day, one day at a time. Ask for help when you can. Okay, So I actually got a work call right as I was going in to wake her up. So she slept a little longer than I meant to, but it'll be okay cuz she was tired. Anyway, she's still asleep, so I'm going to turn her sound machine off from out here and see if that wakes her up. Hello? Someone snoozy. Okay, so we've got a little bit of time before we need to feed Ms. Hallie and she's having a little bit of rough day, so I figured if we got out for a little bit of sunshine, maybe it'll help. Still having a little bit of a rough day. I haven't gotten to eat lunch just yet because I was busy working during her nap. But we'll sit and play with the toys and see what happens. Sometimes it feels like things pile a little bit. My husband took the. Our tripod dog took our tripod dog to the vet and she tore her acl. So having one of those like upset and overwhelmed moments. So. But I do need to get Holly out of the house because she's having a day and when I get her brain more stimulated, it makes sleep easier and it makes her in a better mood. I actually noticed in the car that Hallie started doing some sleepy cues. She was staring and she was rubbing her eyes and yawning. So I didn't want her to get too cozy in her car seat. So I'm actually wearing her for our errand so that way she won't get too cozy. And hopefully I can keep her up a little longer because it is not time for a nap yet and we are not taking a car nap today. Hi. Hello there. Hello. Where'd you go? So I was actually gonna go out on another little errand before we fed her again, but she was clearly hungry so had to feed her and now we have to sit up for 20 minutes. I'm gonna give her a little extra time because of the car seat kind of squishes her tummy down and it makes the reflux worse. Worse. So we're just gonna hang out for a little bit until we can go and do something fun. Okay, so doing round two of meds half an hour before we want to do solids. And when we do nighttime, we do solids, bath, bottle, bed. Okay, so my husband made some dinner. He's an excellent chef and I am the dishwasher. So he made dinner and we're going to enjoy with Ali. Okay, now it is time for bath time. And while Hallie and Dada are taking their bath, I feed the dogs. I clean up a little route around the house, picking up whatever needs to go in her room. Bye. Prepping Hallie's bottle because we're running a little behind so I don't have time to feed her myself. And we're enjoying some bath time. Hi, girl. All about a Saturday night. Off to get ready for bed. Okay, we're running a little bit behind schedule, but she's finishing up her bottle. And then we read her a book about gutsy women before we do the bedtime routine, which is the same thing that we do every time. We just read for a little longer at nighttime. Oops. Got her to bed a little too late, but. So she's already done crying. That was it. And that was because she was too tired. Try to do too much in the afternoon, but look in on the monitor just to make sure she's doing okay and she's out. Okay, so we did it. She got to bed pretty late tonight. We normally try and get her to bed no later than 7:30. And it was just one of those days. But she went right to sleep. Was over tired, but it wasn't too bad. And I had the confidence in her. I know she knows how to put herself to sleep. So I wasn't terribly worried and very grateful for taking care of babies. All the steps and we did all the classes. So you can do it if you have a reflux baby. I want to give you that confidence. You can do it. You might have to work hard for it, but it's totally worth it. Darling, you mean the whole wide world to me Darling, you are sweeter than I ever dreamed.
