How to Give Your Newborn a Bath 🫧Step-by-Step

Megan walks through bathing a newborn step-by-step, covering how to support the baby safely, wash from clean to dirty, and handle the soft spot without worry.
The easiest thing I know to tell you when giving a newborn bath is clean to dirty. So wash the cleanest part of your baby first and then save, you know, their bottom for last, the dirtiest part of your baby, so it doesn't have to be complicated. This is a little. I think this came in the Frida kit, a little scrubby for their head. She's still snoozing. She likes her warm water. This little brush is really good. If your baby has, like, a little bit of cradle cap, too. Phoebe doesn't, but it's not uncommon. Notice how when Megan's washing her hair, she's not afraid of that soft spot. I think sometimes we as parents are so afraid of their heads in that soft spot. The Washington move. She's washing it really well, and she knows that's a pretty thick membrane covering the soft spot, so it's not going to hurt her head. And even you can show how, if you were using your fingers, how you wash her hair. Just want to kind of grab with your fingers, and that helps loosen up any oil that's in their scalp and can help with cradle cap, too. So sometimes we're so careful, because that soft spot, you do want to be careful. But I want you to see that Megan can do this, and it's not hurting Evie at all. You can see how much Evie loves it, but also notice how submerged in the water she is so that it's nice. It's up to, like, her whole body's in the water, which keeps. Keeps her nice and warm. Notice how Megan will get under her chin and clean really good there. That's where babies like to collect a lot and then their hands. I don't know if you saw Megan do her hands, but we just want their little hands clean, too. So don't forget to wash those hands. And as Megan said, she's kind of going from cleanest to dirtiest down. So kind of head to toe from her body. She'll save the diaper area for last. Okay. And I kind of flip her over on my arm to get her back. So notice how Megan's supporting Evie with her forearm and kind of the end and then doing her back and bottom. Um, you see that, like, stepping reflex. Yeah. Put your arm under. I kind of put my arm under her arms and her face to just kind of support her.
