Let's Talk about Mom Shaming

This is a YouTube video titled "Let's Talk about Mom Shaming" featuring Cara Dumaplin speaking in January 2022. In this personal and motivational talk, Cara addresses the issue of mom shaming seen in social media groups, emphasizes acceptance of different parenting styles, and encourages mothers to trust themselves as the best caregivers for their children.
Foreign was inspired by something that I recently saw. A friend of mine sent me some screenshots of a Facebook group that she's in. Oh, my gosh, you guys. I thought mom shaming was like a thing of the past. It is alive and well in some of those Facebook groups, isn't it? Wow. Are you. Are you in any of these groups? Are you seeing this? I just couldn't believe what I saw. Like, I'm like, this is 2022. We have come to the point where we're like, oh, people parent differently. I may breastfeed, you may bottle feed, or vice versa. Or I do it this way and you do it that way, and that's okay. Yeah. Doesn't seem like we're there yet, is it? I don't know. I just am like, wow, this has got to end. So anyway, that's why I did that reel. But I want to tell you this. When I created my class, tried to approach it through that lens. Like, okay, if you're watching this class, you're needing help with baby sleep, right? But I believe as the parent, you know that baby best. So, for example, in my ABCs of Sleep class, this is my class for night sleep, I lay out methods, and you get to pick the best method for you and your baby in the nap class. I understand, like, maybe this mom likes to hold her baby for every nap. This mom is needing naps to happen in the crib. This mom wants a combination of both. You get to pick. So I don't know. That's. That's truly, like, how I teach. I understand, like, you might have a child in daycare. You might be a stay at home mom. You might be a work from home mom. You might do a little of all of it. Like, I don't know. That's how I tried to approach it. And I guess I just want to leave you with this. If nobody's told you today, there is no better mama on the planet for that baby than you. And so if you have been a part of that mom shaming, where somebody's like, putting you down online, just remember what comes out of their mouth is a condition of their heart, not yours. So I don't know. And sometimes I get pushback when I say that there's no better mom on the planet for that baby than you. You know, people are like, well, what about the people who abuse their. I'm not talking to them today. I'm talking to you, the mom who's like, I'm trying to do my best. I'm learning as much as I can. I'm making the best, most informed decision for my baby, my family. You're the best mama for that baby. Don't forget it.
