This is a YouTube video titled "Need help with your toddler's bedtime or naps? Try this! #toddlersleep #toddlerdevelopment" containing advice on how to help toddlers with bedtime by using concrete instructions instead of abstract phrases. The content is a monologue or instructional talk focused on toddler sleep behavior, created in August 2024.
Go to sleep. If you have a toddler who is struggling with bedtime, stop saying those words. Let me explain why. Our toddlers are concrete little thinkers. That phrase go to sleep is an abstract concept. Think about it. How do you go to sleep? Their little brains don't know what to do with that. But if you say lay down, close your eyes, close your mouth, they get that those are things they know how to do. So Ton try replacing go to sleep with lay down, close your eyes, close your mouth. Now, they may or may not do it. You may need to say it on repeat. But at least lay down, close your eyes, and close your mouth is something their little brains can comprehend.
