This is a YouTube video titled "Struggling to stretch wake windows?" featuring Cara Dumaplin speaking about managing baby wake windows and offering advice to parents on how to gradually extend them to improve sleep patterns. The content is a monologue or presentation-style talk recorded in July 2025.
Sometimes I'll hear from parents who really struggle with wake windows. They'll say, Kara, I see your wake windows for my baby's age is this to this. But we aren't anywhere close to that. Let me, let me tell you this. Wake windows are always ranges. Most babies fall between this range. Of course, some fall outside the range. That's pretty typical. But if you're struggling with short naps or lots of night wakings or early morning wakings, one of the first things you need to do is double check those wake windows. Let's say you have like an 8 month old and wake windows. That I suggest is about three hours, give or take. And you're like, Carol, we can't get past 2 hours and 15 minutes. What do we do? Okay, what I'd recommend is gradually, ever so gently, we don't want to push them into over tired, but gradually stretch those wake windows maybe five to 10 minutes at a time.
