In this TN Nursery YouTube video, the host introduces fan club moss (Diphasiastrum digitatum), describing its taxonomy as a primitive vascular plant and its appearance resembling miniature cedar or pine trees on the forest floor. The moss grows 5–10 inches tall, forms spore-bearing strobili, and creates extensive clonal colonies that carpet disturbed coniferous sites. Its reproductive methods include spores, long-lived subterranean gametophytes, and rhizome spread, with leaves arranged spirally in four columns and branches having a rectangular cross‑section. The video concludes by promoting the sale of fan club moss through Tennessee Wholesale Nursery, highlighting low prices and fast shipping.

Welcome to TN Nursery YouTube channel. Today, let's talk about fan club moss. Fan club moss, Diphasiastrum digitatum, are primitive vascular plants that grow across the forest floor like little pines or cedars. Modern species are barely a few inches tall. It's the most prevalent Diphasiastrum species across North America. Its common name is also linked with the— that it looks like cedar bushes on the ground. Similar to adult cedar, its leaves appear pointed and oppressed, and it is lustrous and evergreen. It develops to around 5 to 10 inches in length, with the spore-forming strobili hanging higher. These form huge clonal colonies that carpet the forest. It favors disturbed sites and coniferous woods where thick monocultures are formed. Brown subterranean gametophytes can dwell in the soil for decades before producing vegetative shoots. These plants can spread in various ways, including by the creation of spores. They also spread by horizontally growing underground stems called rhizomes, which produce more small plants a few inches distant. The leaflets are perennial and grouped spirally with 4 equally spaced leaves, giving the appearance of 4 columns if viewed from the sides. Branches have a rectangular cross-section. They appear flat at the bottom and have a significantly smaller leaf than the others. Fan Club Moss is for sale at Tennessee Wholesale Nursery with low prices and fast shipping. Thanks for watching.
