Hey guys, it's Bailey with TN Nursery, and I wanted to show y'all our Black-Eyed Susan. They're nearly all in full bloom. They bloom from June to October, and they offer really long-lasting, beautiful blooms that attract all kinds of birds and pollinators. You'll see goldfinches during the fall feasting on their seeds. They have been recognized as the Maryland state flower since 1918. They grow in zones 3 through 9 and can grow 1 to 3 feet high depending on the variety. These are native. We don't fool with anything but natives usually. They have medical uses in Native American traditions. They've been used to treat colds, infections, and swelling. They're deer resistant, rabbit resistant. You don't have to worry about animals coming in and eating on them. Their stiff stems makes excellent flower cut arrangements. They won't fall over on you like other kind of stuff will. They love, uh, the sun. Their blooms will follow the sun's movement, so if it comes up in the east, it'll— the flower will point east and just go right with the sun. It's interesting to watch. They attract all kinds of bees and butterflies and all kinds of other pollinators. If you'll look, I took a video, and there's little bitty pollinators all over these. Uh, they offer very long-lasting color. They're low maintenance. They don't need any fertilizer. They don't need anything to keep pests off of them. They're just naturally resistant where they are a native. They are the host plant for the butterfly called the silvery checkerspot, and I think I got a video of one in here. I know I've seen 3 in here. I don't know if I got the video of it or not. They reseed themselves every year, and they're also a perennial. So when you get one, next year you'll have 5.
