Welcome to TN Nursery YouTube channel. Today, let's talk about how to prune plants. Using our simple practical tutorial, learn some of the fundamental techniques for pruning plants. Pruning is defined, according to the dictionary, as trimming a tree, shrub, or bush by cutting away dead or overgrown branches or stems, especially to increase fruitfulness and growth. The optimal time to prune the majority of ornamental plants is during the dormant season, or if they bloom in the spring, as soon as the blooms start to fade. After flowering or at the conclusion of the growth season, the majority of herbaceous plants can be pruned back. To effectively prune the plants, you need pruning saw, long-handled loppers, secateurs. Step 1: To avoid leaving a long snag of stem that can promote decay, trim slightly above any apparent buds. In order to avoid damaging the bud itself, allow 3mm to 4mm Step 2: Make the cut straight if the plant has pairs of opposite buds, if you want both buds to flourish. Alternatively, if just one stem is needed, cut at an angle to remove one of the pair. Step 3: Make the incision at a small angle in the direction that the bud is pointing when a plant stem has alternating buds. Step 4: To foster robust new shoots, From the base, remove any old or dead wood at the plant's base. If the wood is thick and rough, you might need to use long-handled loppers, dot, for greater leverage. Step 5: To avoid stems from rubbing against one another, which could harm the bark and lead to decay or disease, cut out one stem where they are crossing or growing closely together. Just be guided with these 5 steps And keep trimming your plants when necessary to promote plant health, since it removes dead and dying branches, making space for new development and safeguarding your plants from harm.
