Hey guys, it's Bailey with TN Nursery, and I want to show you my blue hydrangeas. Now I cut these down to the ground last year, so the blooms isn't as big as what they usually get. They usually get the size of a dinner plate. But here's some cool facts about them. Blue hydrangeas get their color from the acid in the soil. If the pH is below 6.0, the blossoms turn blue. If you want pink flowers instead, just raise the soil pH with garden lime. I like mine better blue, so I don't never raise the pH in the soil, but it can be done. The blue color comes from the aluminum in the soil that the plant absorbs. The flowers symbolize gratitude, understanding, and peace. These giant blooms can last over a month.
