Two speakers argue companies should train existing developers to use AI tools instead of cutting staff. Speaker A says keeping 1,000 engineers and teaching them AI accelerates feature delivery. Speaker B counters that AI will create more jobs, not eliminate them, and warns that today's cost-cutting layoffs will be regretted.
I should have kept my 1,000, taught them all how to use AI effectively, and produced more faster.
People are like, AI is going to take jobs. I think it's going to fuel more jobs.
Short term, we are definitely seeing CEOs that see an opportunity to cut costs. But as they look back, they're going to be like, I should never have done that. What I should have done is taken my 1,000 developers instead of cutting it to 300. I should have kept my 1,000, taught them all how to use AI effectively, and produced more faster. I don't know why you would ever say, hey, let's cut half our staff and keep going at the same pace. What's the point of that? You have the tools and the technologies in front of you right now to accelerate your business. company that's building software of any kind, they want to deliver more features faster. Why would you get rid of people to do that? Doesn't make any sense to me.
