Two speakers discuss how AI is making accessibility easier to implement. Auto-generated captions and alt text remove the excuse that accessibility is too expensive or time-consuming. AI can handle the work that companies used to say required too many people.
And that's where I see the role of AI.
Where do you see AI making the biggest impact for folks with disabilities today?
Earlier, we didn't have auto-generated captions. We didn't have alt text to images. Now we can no longer give an excuse that you cannot make a thing accessibility compliant because I lack the workforce for it. Maybe it's doing it right or wrong. That's another topic that we can talk about later. But at least we have the capability, and AI is just giving us that push to get it out there and not have that excuse anymore that you cannot make your website accessibility compliant. We have tools now which generates captions for us, we have tools now that describe the image for us, and that's where I see the role of AI.
