A speaker describes how volunteering to speak at a boot camp seven years ago led to a job at Torque through a chain of introductions. One conversation can compound into a major career shift if you show up and stay connected.

You have to understand something. You are one conversation away from changing your career. One. The job I have now, 7 years ago, I volunteered to speak at a boot camp. 7 years later, I get this job at Torque. And I asked my manager, I'm like, hey man, how did you— 'cause he told me he was following me on Twitter. Uh, yeah, so-and-so introduced me, or like so-and-so told me about you. And that person was the person that invited me to speak at the boot camp 7 years ago. You have to understand something. Network compounds.
