Taylor Desseyn argues that DevRel is fundamentally community work. They describe building a Discord community and explain why technical and educational content needs to flow directly into the spaces where developers actually gather.

My hot take is that DevRel now is community. So in my previous company, I was basically building this community from the ground up. It was a community mostly hanging out on Discord. But then on top of that, I was also doing like developer relations type things. For me, both of them just work so well hand in hand because the educational part, the technical education part, which is a huge part of like DevRel, that needs to flow into the community.
