Taylor Desseyn, a recruiter, explains why your resume needs a targeted professional summary in the top third listing required and nice-to-have skills. Recruiters spend seconds scanning, so concise resumes with the right skills upfront get noticed.
Hiring managers do not have time to read through long resumes. When I was a recruiter, if your professional summary had the required and nice-to-have skills, I wouldn't even read the rest of your resume. I would call you because you have to realize recruiters, both agency and internal, and hiring managers do not have time to read through long resumes. You hit them between the teeth or you hit them between the eyes or hit them in the teeth, whatever you want to say, up in the top third of your resume, you're going to get calls.
