A free talk at a junior developer bootcamp six years ago led to a job at Torque. Someone from that audience later worked with the speaker's future boss and made an introduction three or four years later, keeping him on the radar until a position opened.

The reason why I'm so passionate about people connecting with people, the reason why I got the job at Torque is that my very first presentation to junior boot camps 6 years ago, some guy reached out to me. That guy then started to work for my now boss. He introduced me through backdoor 3 or 4 years ago. I've been on my boss's radar for 3 to 4 years now because of some junior dev boot camp speaking gig that I took for free 6, 7 years ago. That's how this stuff works.
