Taylor Desseyn argues AI will displace some developer roles but also create growth. Developers still need core skills like GitHub and version control to stay competitive as the industry shifts.
It's not a bad time right now to be a developer. AI is taking people's jobs, but I actually think AI is creating more growth. Thoughts on just the general state of that comment? It's not a bad time right now to be a developer, but you have to kind of be someone that's well-versed in a lot of different things because like they can't just hire someone who is a Vibe coder to replace an engineering team. The people that are being brought in still need to understand how GitHub works. They still need to understand version control and all these different things still actually really, really matter.
