Taylor Desseyn argues that kindness and generosity are what make tech communities inclusive. Giving back feels uncomfortable, he says, but that discomfort is where growth happens.

'Cause listen, at the end of the day, man, like, being in the developer community, like, you gotta be kind, and there's an inclusivity that needs to occur. And I found that the people who are doing the most giving back and have that heart posture are usually the ones that are the most inclusive and the most kind, right? And so, again, I just think giving back is the root of it. And I mean, shoot, even while we're talking, I'm like, well, I need to probably do this, probably need to do this to give back to this person. Yeah. You know, even as we're talking, like, my brain's going, and it's hard. I'm not saying it's easy, it's uncomfortable. The more difficult situations you can get into, that's where the most growth happens.
