Taylor Desseyn talks about Rebuild, a LinkedIn-like platform that prioritizes community activity and skill-based signals over traditional resumes. The product uses meetups, badging, and assessments to incentivize participation, with an AI team helping surface top talent through visible contributions and reputation.
How do people try to stand out on the platform?
Like, what are they doing? So we're about to drop a brand new Rebuild. It looks like LinkedIn, but better. And basically we are incentivizing the community to get involved on top of, it's a blend. We have an AI team. I don't know what they do, a bunch of AI stuff. Anyways, we mix how active you are in the community versus what your skill sets are as it relates to the job. And we incentivize people that are active on the platform and are active in our community, so their search results bubble up to the top. So when we send them somebody, we go, this person is going to these meetups, we're going to do badging, this person's taking the assessment, please hire them.
I just posted up this guy, um, your reput— the best resume is your reputation.
So we try to build that reputation for them.
Yeah, see, that's what you want, because if I find someone that's like legit and I'm— they're known out here, I see them on IRC or Slack helping out the Even if they're simple pull requests, they're in it. That's a step above.
That's it.
You know, that person's like, they're gunning for it. They're probably in the top 1% of talent, I would imagine.
