After going independent, Speaker B discovered networking's value despite dreading public speaking and events. They describe it as a flywheel that's hard to start but gains momentum, and a muscle that strengthens with use. Showing up to dinners and podcasts makes each future appearance easier.
Obviously, I'm sure when you go out on your own, you have to have a network. Can you talk about the power of networking and just showing up to these things?
I mean, I never thought I would be someone who volunteered to go up and speak in front of people for any reason. I'm still learning the power of networking. Like, even agreeing to do this is well out of my comfort zone. Never in my life been on a podcast. So I'm relying on people like you to tell me that the networking thing is worth it. But yeah, man, signing up for like going to dinner or all these events is well out of my comfort zone and not something I'm great at, honestly. But, you know, since I've been independent only in less than a year now, I can see that there's like, it's a bit of a flywheel that it's really hard to get started. But once you're going, it becomes a little bit easier and it's hard to make the decision every time. But I am starting to like over time see the benefit of that, keeping that flywheel going. It's a muscle. Yeah, it's a muscle.
