Send a follow-up message right after your interview, not days later. Keep it short and human: thank them, mention something you talked about, say you want to keep talking. Timing matters less than actually doing it.

Thanks again for taking time with me. I love that we talked about ice hockey and our farms. Hopefully we'll talk soon, okay? Chris, I'm assuming that'll probably go pretty far with you, right? Yeah. Exactly, see? I don't make this shit up.
