I was born, born in Argentina and raised in Buenos Aires. And, you know, tango, you could hear tango. In the city, and I don't like it at all.
Oh, really?
When I was younger, it was kind of like, uh, old people's music, and it was harmonically very simple. And I was like very much into jazz. I was with, you know, Chick Corea or Herbie Hancock, Keith Jarrett, and all that. So the music seems harmonically simpler, and I, I didn't like it, uh, until someone just gave me for my birthday, I think, a CD of Horacio Salgán, and he had an amazing harmonic conception of tango, you know, was very forward thinking with all the way. He actually took a lot of harmonies from Ravel, from, you know, and came up with something that it's definitely tango because all of the defining elements of tango are there, but it's still so innovative and new.
And he was a pianist, right, Horacio? Mr. Salgán?
Yeah, yeah, he was actually, of course, classically trained, and he had the same maestro than Martha Argerich. They went to the same guy.
