Paul Barnhurst argues that outsourcing thinking to AI risks making people intellectually lazy. He points out a gap between what AI courses teach as best practice and what practitioners actually do for paying clients, questioning whether that disconnect matters.
Am I just delegating everything to AI? Am I becoming stupider in a sense because I'm just letting AI be my brain? You can use AI to help you, but at least get yourself started and get your brain working versus AI.
I do think it's making us dumber. I do feel like we are not using our brains as much.
You know, I've said that in the long run, AI will make society dumber as a whole. I hate to say that, but I think it's true. You do a lot of training. You also help people build models. So you have your paying clients, you have your training. Are there any areas where, when you're training people to build models, versus paying clients that you see kind of a disagreement or different identities where, hey, this technique you use on your client work, but you would never teach in a course. You know, those type of things. Here's the best practice. You teach all this in a course, then you go to a client and you're like, oh wow, that's not best practice.
Yeah, absolutely. And I think you probably have that problem as well.
