Runway Gift Opening

Paul Barnhurst talks with Zachary, Runway's founder, about the company's new product launch. They open a time-locked gift bag of branded merchandise and answer live viewer questions about building the finance platform.
Foreign welcome for everyone who's out there. We're going to get started in just a minute, so if you're listening, please let us know in the comments where you're coming from. I'm going to kick off a quick little countdown timer here, and then we'll open this little goodie that Runway sent and see what we have. All right, here we go. Here's our countdown sa Alrighty. Well, there's our countdown. We have Siki, who joined us for unveiling of whatever in this bag. I think he knows, though. I'm pretty sure he has a good idea.
I, I, I am as in the dark as anyone. I wonder what it is. Could be anything. Could be a boat.
Yeah, I, I told someone last night. They're like, I, I told them I already opened. They're like, don't tell me what's in it. I go, it's a laptop. And just kind of laugh because I'm like, that's a laptop. That's a squishy laptop. All right, so, Dan, if you're out there listening, please let us know. This idea came from Kathy Svetina. She said I should open it live. So I figured, let's give it a try. But before I open it, I'm going to give Seeking the opportunity to say a few things here. He's the founder of Runway, and I know you've been working, what, four years now on that to get to this.
Four years, yeah. Finally peeling out the early access sticker.
So why don't you take a few minutes and tell us about that journey before we unveil what's in that bag?
Well, if I knew it was going to take four years when we started, I don't know that we would have started. It is a very much a roller coaster of a journey. It turns out you have to build a lot of software to stand up a new FBNA platform. But, yeah, right now we have companies like Angellist, Lambda, Superhuman, all running a Runway today. And the differentiator is really about making finance understandable to people. We launched today. We have a launch video, which I think you're shared on your LinkedIn and on Twitter. And that's Runway.com launch if you want to see it. But I don't want to make it too much of a Runway ad. What we did and what you have, Paul, is we sent out to influencers around the world, people who are in finance, a lot of our customers, a time locked bag. I think you could probably show off that lock and this lock. So you get this bag. And the lock will not unlock until launch day, which is today. And hopefully that countdown timer has.
And we see it is unlocked now. So the timer has reached. So shall we check out what's in here? But I did get one comment. Someone said they think it's the beard blow up doll.
It could very well be the case. I mean it could be anything.
Yeah, that's a smart alec there, Ernie. Thanks for that. So let's see what we have. I'm opening it.
How did he know?
All right, so first I get the box for the lock so I can use that, that's very important to reuse it. So we'll, you know, we'll put that in here. We'll make this a slow on Vel because you know, nobody wants to get back to work. All right, there we go. So the lock goes in here?
Yeah.
Now let's see what's next.
Okay.
All right. Something black. Let's see it is jacket.
Look at the badge. We've got a. It's a numbered, individually numbered bomber jacket for the early test pilots Runway. And you can open it up. There's a cool thing inside on the lining as well.
All right, so let's open this up and see. Nice lining there. We got the pockets.
Yeah.
Something else. I think I got it.
It's the Runway bummer jacket. There it is. What's your number on it? Show off that badge.
Oh, mine is 199 of 200.
199, 200.
So I just got only 200.
There it is.
Alrighty. And then here is the bag I can stuff it in.
Yeah, that's right.
I joked that I was gonna cut the bag instead of the lock. My wife's like, no, no, I could fit yarn in that bag. That's what she said. She's a yarn person.
So that is the idea. There it is. Yeah, the idea is we don't celebrate our finance leaders as much as we should. And I really think that we celebrate the same way we celebrate athletes and everyone else who gets a lot of attention in tech. So we'll be doing a lot more of these.
Thank you, appreciate that. We'll see some of the comments here. We'll put a few of these on the screen here. And then first one, we got the beard blow up doll from Ernie. We're going to ignore that, Zachary. Nobody wants to get back to work. Classic. We got Brandon here from your marketing team. You're always number one in our hearts. Thank you, Brandon. I appreciate that.
No, when you almost don't make. Kidding me. That was a must have. Pretty sure numbers are distributed.
There we go. We got one more from Ernie. If Cat. If Kathy's out there, Let us. Let us know if you made it, Kathy, because you're the one that came up with the idea. But that's basically it. I got a nice jacket. I have to say. That's.
Yeah, you should put it on. I love it.
All right, we'll put it on. We'll see how.
Yeah.
What? All right.
Dude, that is. That looks nice on you.
There's the new jacket. Let's see. I'll even zip it up here.
My goodness.
You can see the. Let's see if we can get the number. Wrong side. There we go.
There it is. Wow. You. You look very professional, man.
That's what I was gonna say. Instead of wearing my vest, my patented vest, I'm just gonna start wearing this.
It's your thing. It's your very own Jensen Huang jacket.
There we go. I mean, what more do I need than this? Especially in 100 degree weather. I'll go wear it outside. Right now.
I wear it outside for the heat dome.
It's a great idea.
Pre workout.
I imagine it will work.
Yeah. Thanks for sharing that, Paul. Glad you like it.
All right, there we go. Raphael joined us. I know Raphael's a big fan of what you're doing at Runway. I know he uses casual a lot as well.
Yeah.
One more congrats to the team seeing you on your accompanying new mortise mortarcycle. All right, we'll see how that goes. Zach, if you can talk my wife into that one, I'll buy it. You know what?
That'll be the next time lock gift. It's like, not going to turn on until the launch day.
All right, that. That sounds good. Next stop, private pilot. Raphael's asking where the helmet is. So we're getting. We're getting some comments here. People are having fun with this. All right, any other comments before we close? Close the session here? Anything?
No, I'm just glad that you got something cool and appreciate it. Really appreciate all of our customers. So every time we do one of these things, we'll be doing more, more drops, and best way to get one of these is to become a Runway customer. We sent one to every single one of our customers as well.
Not surprised. I will have to grow a little bit before the tool makes sense for my budget.
I. I think that day is soon come.
All right, well, we'll see. I. I might have to do a bake off between a few tools and see what kind of, you know, discounts I can get legit.
You should.
I could do a March Madness event.
A tournament's good. Yeah.
Whoever the winner is is the tool I select.
You should do a bracket competition, too.
Yeah, Someone told me that last year and I'm like, you know, we'll see. So maybe next year I'll do that one first. How many tools am I going to get angry emails from? From not being in the 64? And every round I'm like, do I really want to deal with 100 angry emails? Let's.
Let's start with 128. Why not?
I could do 128. That would be just about everybody.
That's about it.
I'll think about that one.
Yeah.
Alrighty. Well, thank you, everybody. We'll let you go, but appreciate you joining.
Thanks for watching. Thanks for doing this, Paul. Appreciate it, man.
Yep. Take care. Congratulations again. Good luck with Growing.
Thanks.
Bye.
Bye. All right.
