A speaker trains AI on financial models and spreadsheet formulas, discovering the models generate bizarre, convoluted solutions humans would never write. The AI finds working answers through logic that remains opaque, producing what looks like secret robot code that sometimes outperforms human engineering.
If you or I were tasked with training a model on all these different types of spreadsheets that are common, three statement model, dcf, whatever it is, we would just train it on a bunch of models. And I bet in none of those models would you find a formula close to this. We would do the simplest path that makes sense on sort of human logic. My only point on this was, I wonder why in robot logic it made sense to do the formula this way and how it came to it. Because it seems convoluted to us. How did it come up with the choices it made? And it's kind of like when you ask AI to come up with novel solutions to engineering problems. It comes up with things that don't really match the way we think. And that's sort of what I'm feeling here, is this is secret robot code.
