Paul Barnhurst and a co-speaker argue that hiring mistakes are expensive, and AI expertise is scarce enough that senior leaders need to focus on keeping talented people. As organizations adopt AI, retaining staff who understand it matters more than it used to, though that may change in a few years.
Hiring people is expensive. It's easy enough to make mistakes. You don't want it to compound, and so you gotta think about these things.
Yeah, and I think that's what AI's gonna push us more into as well, especially as senior leaders, is we're gonna have to think more about our teams too. I mean, we already do, but I think we're gonna have to do more of it, especially in the early days. If people are good at AI, we wanna make sure we wanna keep them because it's harder to replace that. And maybe over time that, that'll normalize a little bit. Sure.
Right now it's like anything, early computer, early spreadsheet. Oh, there's a new technology. You want to keep that person that knows it well, 'cause it's gonna be hard to replace them. 5 years from now, it could be a very different story. Yeah.
