Short recorded conversation exploring whether AI will 'kill us all' or take jobs. Speakers express personal worry about job prospects (one rates worry at 7/10) and a skeptical view that AI may be "more harmful than good," potentially destroying jobs without increasing productivity and possibly worsening financial divides.
More harmful than.
More harmful than good. Okay, so do you think AI is going to kill us all? Take our job thoughts on that?
I don't think it's going to kill us all. Whether or not it'll take our jobs is something that we'll find out, like, in the next year or so. It might be a bubble, but honestly, I don't know. I don't think it's as efficient as everybody's saying it is.
Got it. Are you worried for your job security coming out of school?
Yes.
You are? Okay, so you're worried for yourself. On a scale of 10 is I'm really fucking worried. One is super chill and I got a job whenever. How worried?
Probably seven.
Seven.
Ye.
Okay, so you're actively worried.
Yeah.
Like for your econ major in particular.
Yes.
Got it. Are you thinking about changing majors?
No.
Okay. Some other thoughts. Do you think AI will create more financial equity or more divide?
That's a good question, because I guess AI could help people build financial literacy, but at the same time, you never want to fully rely on what they're saying. And then also I just see it as a mechanism for companies to destroy more jobs without creating more productivity. So I'd say more harmful than good.
