Hard work isn't a virtue to praise, it's the baseline. The speaker grew up hearing that working hard was the minimum to survive, not something that deserves applause or sets you apart.
there's just so much of like, I need to show that I've made it, or it just takes a lot more. So I think that's always ingrained in me somehow, and it takes hard work. So growing up, I hear things like, just work hard, and you hear about the American dream as well. Yeah, there's a spot for everybody, you gotta be willing to put in the work. So I think I've thought about hard work as like the minimum requirement to stay in the game, not even like a nice to have, like on some days, it's like the default.
