The best AI products keep users because they feel fast, remember context across conversations, and accept multiple input types like PDFs and images. Each layer makes switching to a competitor harder.

The difference between a churn-heavy AI app and a sticky one is latency. The 3 levels to retention. Level 1: Perceived speed. Use streaming responses. If the user sees the AI thinking in real time, they will stay. That's an example of design where showing the provenance of the AI thinking, reasoning through, helps the user trust it more and understand, oh, it's doing a job. Level 2: Context awareness. Don't make users retype prompts. Use vector memory so that AI remembers them from last week and you can go deeper on on this too, like cross-session memory, semantic, episodic memory. There are many layers to user modeling and memory, and that is a cutting-edge frontier domain space. Keep an eye out. Level 3: multimodal variety. Don't just give users text. They'll pump in things like a PDF report, images, or a screenshot of this report or this chart or a code snippet. Multimodal is really important because it expands the surface area of your ability to understand what your user is intending. So the goal because the longer they interact with your agent, the harder it is going to be for the competitors to get your users to switch off your product to theirs. Build for retention, and that leads to loyalty. Follow for more.
