Unfiltered AI Talk: "AI Coworker Won't Work - My Job Is Human Connection" | Episode [23]

A street-style YouTube interview by Robert Ta with Darius (Adarius), covering everyday people's views on AI: its medical benefits and military/cyber risks, whether it will take jobs, and how people feel about AI bosses/co‑workers/girlfriends and AI in politics. Darius, a valet at the Marriott, emphasizes human connection in service work, fears cyber/weaponized harms, would prefer an AI president over current leaders for practical reasons, and mentions personal preferences about family, children's phone use, and a side business (Pressure X).
Questions this video answers
Adarius (goes by Darius in transcript).
Marriott — valet.
$45 per hour.
Pressure X (pressure X).
Middle school (around 7th–8th grade).
So do you think AI is going to kill us all or take our jobs? What do you think?
I have no idea because I know that based on like movies and whatnot, it's all propaganda and whatnot. But I do know that AI is going to be the longevity of humans life because tell me more like medicine. Sometimes AI can help with medication that you might not even have the answers for.
Yeah, yeah.
Like drug discovery, cancer and whatnot.
Yeah.
Even though like there's like a whole bunch of videos on the Internet saying like oh, there's things to cure cancer and whatnot. And some things can like not cure it and whatnot. But I mean AI can help but also breathing down all of us because some people could use it as like military.
I see.
Or like, like weaponized, like cyber security.
Yeah.
Like try to hack into people's social bank accounts. Whatever, whatever. There's positives and negatives to it. So.
Okay, so yeah, yeah, this is a lot. It's a lot. Okay, so how do you spend your days and what's your name?
Adarius.
Adarius. Okay. How do you spend your days?
Working man.
Working. What do you do for work?
I work at the Marriott down the street.
Marriott? What do you do there?
Valet.
Okay. Are you worried about it taking your job at all? AI, no, no. Tell me more why you're not worried. Like 0% worried is not going to.
Be able to drive stick.
Have you seen, have you gotten in a Waymo?
No.
Okay. Waymos are out and they're self driving cars. You could Uber like a Waymo and there's no driver.
Oh, like the ones in the city?
Yeah.
Okay.
And they're expanding. There's more cities now.
Okay. I mean, yeah, but driving?
Yes.
No one not going to drive stick.
Stick is a different story. Okay, okay, got it. So let's say what if AI became your boss? What do you think about that? What if you had an AI boss?
That is very difficult because it is like if they're putting you on crazy hours. I mean I'm getting put crazy hours.
You can put in crazy hours.
I literally just worked the overnight shift and now I'm back.
Oh, do you need a hug? Yeah, I'll give you a hug real quick. I'll give you a hug real quick. I'm sorry to hear that.
I mean it's good once I get my car. It'll be worth it. It'll be worth it.
Okay.
Yeah. But I mean if I had AI as my boss, it'd be kind of difficult just because I can't really communicate on like emotion wise with like a robot. A robot.
I see. Yeah.
Because it's like, I mean, it'd be nice. It'd be if it was like Jarvis where like he would understand how I feel.
What if you just get paid more with an AI boss?
I mean, that'd be perfect.
Would you be down for that?
Be down for it.
Okay, well, how much would you have to be for you to have to be okay with it? How much more pay would you take for AI boss?
I mean, I'd have to say about 45 an hour.
45. Okay. And how much more is that now than now?
Like 20x.
Okay, got it.
2 times x.
2 times. Okay. Another question. AI girlfriend, would you ever date an AI? No.
No.
Okay. Would you judge somebody that does.
A little bit? Yeah, a little bit. A little bit. It's, there's no physical human connection between the person. I mean, it's, it's. You can't say oh, I love you to a robot or like a pillow.
A large language model.
Yeah, it's, it's just hypocrisy to me at that point.
Hypocrisy?
Yeah. It's like you can't love something that's not physical.
Okay.
The only, only way that you could do that if it's like towards religion. Ah. Like God or Okay. Spiritual being or whatever.
Okay. Like energy. Okay, got it, got it. Okay. Another question. What about an AI president versus current president? What do you think about that? Would you rather trust an AI president or the current president?
I'd have to take AI.
You got to take AI. Like, tell me more, tell me more.
Of these tears, man.
Tired of these tears.
I'm working my ass off just for not living.
Going up, wages not going up. AI President maybe could help out.
Probably. Yeah. He could make it to where he's a little more beneficiary for us because I mean, we're technically really the only countries that I know that we're only paying for health care and stuff is actually wild.
I mean, we pay up the ass for health care, but we don't live as long as other countries.
I've been to France and I've been in Italy.
Yeah.
The health care out there is a lot more different than out here.
I see.
And it's more intuitive as far as like taking care of, of you than more. So like, let me get my pain.
Got it. Okay. Yeah. So here it's like really just treating you as a commodity.
Yeah.
But over there they care about you as a human.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah. Okay. Okay, last question. If you had to say something to Sam Altman or Mark Zuckerberg, people building AI, what would you say?
Be careful with it. Be careful because it can't have a mind of its own later down the line.
Say more about that.
Like for an example, Age of Ultron movie.
Okay.
Where he took over his own self and became a robot and tried to destroy the world. Something like that can happen. You never know what AI is capable of.
Got it.
Because you don't know what technology can bring to itself.
Okay. Okay, got it. Okay. Actually another one. Because you have great takes. I love your takes. If you got time, if you could get an AI in your home to do any of your chores, what would be like, the top one? You would just be like, AI, please just do my chores. Number one, chore.
Dishes, dishes, dishes.
Okay. So if an AI could come to your home and just do your dishes, you'd be pretty stoked about that. Yeah.
Cause then it's like, I don't have to come home, do dishes and then cook. I can just cook and then do dish. Have the AI do dishes for me right after.
Yeah.
And I can relax instead of be stressed out from work and then try to make sure the house is clean and whatnot.
How much would you pay for that? Let's say it's a per month subscription. It'll do your dishes unlimited. How much are we paying for AI to do your dishes?
I mean, I pay a lot for subscriptions like Netflix, Hulu.
Okay. Yeah, Spotify.
So, I mean, if it's in that same price range, I mean, that'd be perfect.
Yeah. Because it does your dishes, it saves you time. Right. Something you don't want to do. Yeah. Okay. Got it.
Cool.
Any last minute thoughts on, you know, existential risk to humanity? Anything like that?
I mean, if we do get into a world where it's nothing but cyber security and, like, cyber warfare, God bless us all.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
You think we might be screwed?
Oh, yeah.
Okay, like. Like, percentage wise, how much do you think we'd be screwed right now?
Like, I mean, if someone is able to take control, like, a host country's power grid. Yeah, that's.
It's.
That's gonna be like. Actually, because it's gonna affect hospitals, it's gonna affect people who are on, like, iron machines.
Yeah.
People who have, like, breathing disorders. Like, we're like in bubbles all the time, so it's going to affect them.
Yeah.
So if, like, if someone's able to control that whole power grid, it's just it's. It's not going to. It's going to do more harm than anything else. Probably even kill people.
Got it. Yeah. And another one. Do you want to have a family someday?
Yeah, I do plan to have a family, so.
Me too. And I'm kind of scared of bringing kids into this world, man. Like, what do you think about that? Cause I, you know, I'm 33. I grew up with. I saw social media. I was kind of on the outskirts of that. Yeah, I see how it's affecting younger generation. I'm like, man, AI is a whole nother thing.
Yeah.
So you worried about that at all?
I'm raising my kids how I got raised.
Yeah. Okay.
You stay outside till the lights come out.
Oh, I love that.
You gonna be outside, you're gonna be running around, you gonna get some cuts and bruises. But, I mean, that's how you're gonna grow up.
You go learn, get character. When would you give them a phone?
I give them a phone to, like. They're in middle school.
Middle school. Okay. Like, seventh, eighth grade.
Because then they'll call me like, hey, dad, I'm ready to come home.
Yeah.
Or I just got done with practice. Can you come pick me up? Sure. I'm on the way.
Would it just be straight dumb phone, or do you want to give them a smartphone?
Are you gonna flip phone?
Flip phone? Yes.
I grew up with a flip phone.
So you're getting that? Yeah.
Yeah.
That's funny. That's funny.
You think you're gonna have social media? No, you ain't gonna have nothing. You won't get that till probably high school.
Okay. Got it.
Yeah, that's when I probably got it.
Okay.
Interesting.
What do you think about, like, what if you had an AI co worker? What would that be like? Can you imagine that?
Not really. Just because it's. It's. My job is more so, like, human connection and, like, customer service. So it's like having an AI co worker wouldn't really necessarily work as far as ballet service.
Okay.
I would say, like, if it was for, like, my business. For my pressure washing business. Like. Yeah, Pressure washing, car detailing, mobile detail.
Sweet. So you want to shout it out, actually?
Well, it's not too big, but, hey, it doesn't matter.
We're all hustling. Right?
But if you go on Instagram, it's pressure X.
Pressure. Say it to the camera.
Be pressure X. So.
And say your name again.
Darius.
Darius. Okay. Yo, thanks so much, man. I appreciate it.
Yeah.
And you can follow the Robert Taw I'm on everything. And I'm just starting to do these street interviews. I'm building an AI startup, trying to solve for it, not killing us all, because I am worried about bringing kids into a world where it might kill us all. So I'm like, got to fucking work on that. Oh, yeah. So I'm just. I'm tired of tech billionaires telling us how to think. So I'm just hitting the streets, talking to people, real people, getting a pulse on, what do you think about AI? Is it going to kill us all? Is it going to take our job? So this is really helpful for me, man. I appreciate it.
Appreciate it, man.
Yes.
What was the channel again?
The Robert taught, and it makes Roberto with two T's. Okay. Yeah, look that up. Yo, take care. Sweet.
