Speaker (creator) explains they are building an open-source personal AI that exposes what the system knows about a user and allows the user to correct or remove facts (example: the AI incorrectly reminding the speaker about a deceased dog). They argue this transparency and user control is necessary because commercial systems are opaque and collect/monetize user data; they view deep integration of AI into daily life as inevitable and emphasize safety, guardrails, ethics, and user-facing tools. The speaker asks viewers to follow along for an upcoming release in the next few weeks and solicits feedback.
Questions this video answers
Yes — the speaker says "our stuff is all open source."
"In the next couple of weeks."
Yeah. And that way, like, I could when I'm building things and my thinking is like, it shouldn't be a black box. Like right now, ChatGPT is a black box. It's like, yeah, I like, for example, it knows I had a dog. It doesn't know that it dies. It still reminds me of my dead dog. I'm like, this sucks, dude. And I can't even go in it and be like, look, this is wrong. This is right. This is kind of wrong. This is kind of right. So I'm building one where it's like, you can go in there and see exactly what we know about you and you can say, this is wrong. That's right. Whatever. You just take all your data. Are you. Do you want it to be like that integrated into your life though, where it knows everything? I think it's inevitable. So, like, the way I think about it is people are already doing this and the people in power are already driving towards a world where every touch point, they get your data, they own it and they'll monetize it and it'll be like the AI TikTok ification in the world. Right. And so a lot of people, you get data, it biases you and you might not even know it. And so my whole thing is like, why don't we just help build a tool that helps you co evolve with it? And so I could even show you. But what we do is we reflect what we know about you. We're like, this is right. Is this wrong? And you could take your data at any time. That's what we built. And our stuff is all open source, it's all out in public. And our belief is like, we need to build these tools for real people. Yeah. All right, so that's what we're doing. So if you want to follow along, we're going to drop this in the next couple of weeks. So if you see the video, follow along comment and you'll tag you. Yeah, yeah. On insta. Yeah, I got you, I got you. I dropped it on every platform I'm on, everything. We're just getting started, so. Yeah. But I'm going to be doing this a lot and I really appreciate y' all taking the time. It helps me understand as a builder of the future, how could we build a better future? And what are people caring about? Safety, guardrails, protections, ethics, morals. And then also being cautiously optimistic, accepting that it's inevitable. Like, those are things I'm really interested in. So that as I do research like this, I'm getting a pulse on, like, what do people actually want? What do we care about? And how do we build that? All right, well, I appreciate the interview. Thank you so much. Thanks, guys. Have a great day. Yeah, follow along. That was elegant.
