Unfiltered AI Talk: Humans Create New Things - AI Just Pattern Matches | Episode [41]

Fabian avoids AI over concerns about academic integrity and environmental impact. He thinks AI pattern-matches rather than creates, won't replace skilled doctors, and worries most about big tech making centralized decisions that affect everyone.

Okay, Have a good day. Hey, yo, yo, can I interview real quick?
All right.
Hey, yo, can I interview you all real quick?
Yeah, sure.
Yeah, it's on. Is AI gonna kill us all, take our jobs? I would love to just get opinions from real people, not tech billionaires. You up for that?
Yeah.
Cool, so we'll stand here. Camera guy's right here.
I'll see you. Or if you want to stay.
Yeah. So let's face this way. You can stand right here to my left. And we'll face my buddy Gabriel in the yellow. We good, Gabriel? Rolling.
Good.
And the mic's working. All right, cool. So what's your name?
I'm Fabian.
Cool, Fabian. So how do you spend your days, Fabian?
I just study and, you know, hang out with friends and, you know, work out and stuff.
What do you study?
I'm studying. I'm an intended MCB major, so. I'm an intended MCB major.
Okay, cool. Do you use AI at all in what you do daily life? No, not at all.
I try to avoid as much as possible, yeah.
Oh, tell me more. Why do you try to avoid AI?
Well, it's because it takes away from the integrity of my work and recently with the environmental impacts of AI, I don't feel comfortable using it. And I feel like most of the information I can get from AI I would get more reliably from sources online or from direct sources.
Got it. So you don't want it to ruin integrity of your work. And it also sounds like you don't want to be using more and more data that contributes to climate change. Yeah, got it. Okay, so all right, next question. Do you think AI is going to kill us all or take our jobs? You worried about that?
Maybe it'll take some jobs. I'm not sure about killing us all yet.
Not sure, but not zero percent either.
I'll have to look more into it.
Got it.
Yeah, for sure. But I mean, you're already seeing the, you know how it's taking some jobs away. Yeah, but yeah, yeah, I mean, I don't want to jump to conclusions right now.
Got it. Are you worried about your job security in the future, coming out of college and stuff?
I'm planning to go into the medical field. I'm sure there are some jobs in that which could be taken especially like data analytics and stuff, but I'm not too worried. There's always a need for doctors.
Okay, what kind of doctor you want to be?
Just like general physician. More hands on work.
And what drew you to that work?
Humanitarian work. I want to, you know, hopefully do Docs Without Borders.
Yeah, I love that. I love that. I love the positive vibes there. That's great. We need more people like you. Yeah. Okay. Some. Some more hot take kind of questions. AI boyfriend, AI girlfriend. Would you go for an AI companion?
There's no point.
No point?
Yeah.
Zero chance. Would you judge somebody that does?
Probably.
Yeah. Probably like 10 out of 10.
Hardcore judge, you know, you do you.
So five, like, kind of neutral, but not for me. Do you want kids in the future?
Yeah.
Okay. What if your kids dated an AI? What would you do?
I don't know. I'd probably kick them out.
Probably kick them out?
No.
Okay. Okay.
I'd probably make fun of them.
Make fun of them?
Yeah.
And then hope that that nudges them.
Yeah, I mean, I hope I raised them right enough to not do that.
That isn't even a thing. Okay, so another thought. Are you dating anybody right now?
Not. Not particularly.
Okay, if you were and then you found out they cheated on you with an AI, would that be better or worse than with a human?
I'd probably laugh. But, you know, people, you know, I feel like the motivations to cheat are the same. It's not really. It's probably like loneliness, so I probably feel the same about it.
Got it.
Okay.
Do you think it's a forgivable thing?
Yeah, I don't really hold on to anything.
Got it.
Yeah.
You seem very grounded.
That's awesome, man. Yeah.
Another thought. Do you trust AI more than you trust politicians?
Well, nowadays, yeah.
Yeah. Okay, tell me why. Why?
It's just like the grok thing, I feel like. I mean, you definitely can. You definitely can manipulate AI to say things that you want it to say, but ultimately it will be drawing from facts that it gets online. Whereas I feel like nowadays most right wing politicians are kind of making those up.
Just making stuff up. Yeah. So you would trust AI more than current state politicians?
Some. Yeah.
Yeah, Some. Okay, got it. Okay, what about AI president versus current president? What would you take?
Definitely an AI president of Philadelphia.
Tell me more about that. Definitely an AI president.
Well, Trump's a fascist and AI, I mean, I feel like. Well, it depends on the AI, definitely, but I don't know. ChatGPT isn't a fascist, so that's. It's kind of sad. That's the baseline.
But yeah. Yeah. Okay. So like, I would take up. You're saying I would take a president that is not a fascist, and that's why I would take ChatGPT over Trump.
I would definitely not prefer ChatGPT to be my president, but definitely.
But if you had to choose between the two, ChatGPT versus Trump, you'd go ChatGPT. Yeah. Okay, got it. Awesome. In 10 years, will AI make the world better or worse? What do you think?
It depends on how it's being used. I feel like now it's because the big tech and stuff like that, it's definitely catered towards a certain interest, but A.I. is not, you know, A.I. like all other technology has just as much of a capacity to help us as it does to harm us.
Okay. So it's kind of double edged sword. It's up to us.
Yeah.
As humanity. And what do you think about just all that power and decision making being centralized? You know, like we're not making these decisions on releasing models out in the world and that kind of stuff. So like, thoughts on that?
What do you mean centralized?
I mean like, like for example, Sam Altman, Elon Musk, you mentioned Grok. Like we're not making decisions on whether the products make it out there and what people do with it. Like for example, did you know recently that a kid committed suicide, nudged.
We're not in control of. Yeah, the products. I mean, definitely. I feel like it'd be better if it was in the control of a wider group of people. Wider group of people than just a fewer group of people, I guess. Got it.
And if you had one thing to say to like Sam Altman or Elon Musk or Mark Zuckerberg, the people making these AI tools, like, what would you say to them?
I mean, like, fuck them, I guess.
Fuck them. Wait, tell me more why I still like them. You don't like them? Why don't you like Mark Zuckerberg, you know, Elon Musk, Sam Altman.
Too much money for a single person.
Too much money, yeah. And what do you think that does to a person?
It makes them lose a bit of their humanity. I feel like. Yeah, they got so detached. They kind of form their own spheres. But I don't know. I don't know. I'm not a billionaire, so.
Yeah. Yeah. Okay, so it sounds like you want them to have more humanity. Like they're. They're losing touch because they have a lot of money.
I just don't want to trust. I just don't want to have my livelihood depend on what one person decides is best for me.
That makes sense. That makes sense. Okay, a few more things. What's one thing humans will always do better than AI?
Art.
Art, Yep. Do you do any art?
I Don't do any art. But I definitely hate AI art. So you hate AI art? Yeah.
Okay, tell me more. Why do you hate AI Art?
Art is like human expression is not robotic expression. I feel like AI is kind of an amalgamation of everything that humans do. And art is meant to express feelings and ideas, not something that a machine generates.
I see. So instead of just pattern matching, humans are able to make something new.
Yeah.
Like create new things.
Yeah.
Okay. And so that's why you hate AI Art? Yeah, got it. Because it goes against what real art is to you. Yeah, got it. Okay, awesome. If AI took over, what job would you want in the robot apocalypse? Let's say it just took over.
I mean, I'd probably just kill myself. Honestly. For real? No, I'm just kidding.
Oh, you go for no.
Whatever. Whatever keeps me alive, I guess. I don't know what jobs there'd be.
You just beckoned for the AI Overlords to keep you alive? Yeah. Would you join any kind of resistance if there was one?
That's what we should do.
That's what we should do.
Yeah.
Sweet. What would you want to do for the resistance in this hypothetical robot apocalypse?
I don't know.
The field doctor, maybe? Hey, that sounds like a good gig.
Maybe.
Last question. Thank you so much. Last question. Give me one word to describe how you feel about AI.
Neutral.
Neutral.
AI in general? Yeah. I don't like the way it's being handled right now, but it can do good, it can do bad at a high level.
Could you elaborate on the. I don't like the way it's being handled. Is it back to the decision making centralized power?
Yeah, it's just catered towards a group of people.
Got it. Any last words on AI, the future of humanity that you want to share?
Not really. I feel like I said what I had to say.
Cool, man. Yo, thanks a lot. I really appreciate it. If you want to give me a follow, we'll drop the video in two weeks. We could tag you. My social team could do that if you want. Thank you. I'm on the Robert Taw on every platform.
