Unfiltered AI Talk: "Impactful" and "Important" - Two Words for AI's Future | Episode [32]

Isaac and Adam discuss whether AI will disrupt jobs, replace human relationships, and deserve rights. They expect significant job displacement within decades but reject AI romantic partners as fake. Both see AI as impactful and important to humanity's future.
Hey, my. My dog's also a little grumpy today.
It's okay.
Yeah. Hey. Hey, bud. Okay, if you guys stand more, right? Like, more that way. Okay.
This is good.
Let's. Hey, chill. Yeah. It's okay. Hey, thank you. It's okay. Good boy. Actually, could you go ahead real quick and just look behind the camera? Tell me up the bottom, top left has red. Is it gone? Great. Okay, come back in and I'll cut this first part out. Great. Okay. So what are yalls names?
Isaac.
Isaac.
Adam.
Adam.
Cool.
And what do you all do? How do you spend your days?
Play basketball. And go to school.
I go to school. I. When I come back, I do my homework, I study, and I do an hour of math every day and I read.
What. What school? Like, what are y' all taking to school?
High school. Yeah.
College.
Okay.
Refreshment.
Got it in high school.
Yeah.
Do you know what you kind of want to do for the rest of your life, or.
I wanna be. Oh, yikes. I want to be somewhere not necessarily in the finance field, but up there. Like, I want to, like, deal with stocks. Like a quant kind of.
Cool.
Yeah.
Yourself?
I'm still kind of figuring it out, but I'm hoping medical fields.
Cool.
Okay.
All right.
So question. Do you think AI is going to kill us all or take our jobs? Thoughts on that? You first.
I think eventually AI will take control of most of the stuff that we do, but I think we're good for now.
Good for now? How many years are we good?
I'd say we'll see, like, major stuff happening, like, 20 years from now.
20 years.
Okay.
And yourself?
I don't think necessarily it'll kill us all, but I do think it'll take a decent amount of jobs. Like, it's already taking factory jobs. Like, I do believe it'll take jobs that not necessarily have a huge impact on us, but, like, I still think there'll be many jobs, like, humans, like, can do. Like, we're, like, they're still gonna need, like, a boss. Like.
Yeah.
And, like, we could substitute. And there's always gonna be, like, people that need to, like, look to see the AI is, like, working or not. But, yeah, I'll take a majority of jobs for sure.
Got it. Okay. Another question. Thoughts on. Would you have an AI girlfriend or boyfriend? No. No, no, no.
I just wouldn't necessarily. I just wouldn't necessarily think it's, like, a real relationship.
Got it. Are you all dating right now? Anybody? No. Okay, let's say you were dating somebody and they cheated on you with an AI, Was that worse or better than with a human?
I'd honestly feel, like, pretty, like, heartstrucking. I'd be really sad. Like, pretty sad. Especially because it's, like, not a real person. But yeah, yeah, if that's what they want to do, fine by me.
And yourself.
If it's AI, I'd honestly just think it's kind of weird of them, but I just would. I don't really. I don't know what I would do.
Yeah.
Okay. Do y' all want a family in the future? Thought about that.
Oh, yeah. For sure.
For sure. So you want your kids and stuff?
Yes, I do.
Okay, so let's say your kids dated an AI. What would you say?
Although, let my kids do whatever they want. Not necessarily whatever they want, but, like, in terms of, like, dating, Like, I'll let. I'll let them.
Give them the agency. And yourself.
I probably would not let my kids date AI unless. Unless they, like, have kids. Because I want, like, future generations of family.
Got it.
If that could somehow work out, then.
Yeah, maybe if that could.
But.
Oh, okay. If it was an AI and somehow it was, like, AI human combo and still continued the bloodline, it'd be all right.
Then I'd be all right.
Oh, that's interesting. Okay. In 10 years, do you think AI will make humanity better or worse? The world better or worse?
I think we can decide that for ourselves. I think if we really want to, we can make it better. Yeah, but I think if we, like.
Yeah, I completely agree with him. Like, we have, like, the ability right now to, like, use AI to either for harmful effects or, like, effects that will help us. Like, we have the ability right now to stop it or, like, keep on going. Yeah, but intent. Wait, in 10 years, you said, like.
If it's hard, will the world be better or worse because of AI?
I think things will be much more easier. Like, a lot of people will lose their job. Like, not, like, high society, like, people. A lot of, like, people lose their jobs and, like, it will take a toll on, like, a majority of people. But, like, it's not. It won't necessarily, like, effect of, like, our everyday lives.
Like, I say.
Do you know what I mean? Like, not really. It can help us. Like, let's say, like, make life easier.
Yeah.
Like, we have AIs on our phone. Like, we could just always talk to them and say, like, oh, yeah, how do I get from point A to point B? Or, like, anything? Okay, it helps us, but, like, it also is going to take away a lot of jobs.
So I see it's harmful and also good and bad.
Yeah.
Okay. But overall, good.
Overall.
Overall, good.
Yeah. Okay, cool. Do you trust AI more than you trust politicians?
Honestly? Honestly, yeah.
Yeah.
Because a lot of people, for sure, a lot of.
They just.
They just. They just want to win you over.
They just want to win you over. They're just lying, telling you anything you want.
Yeah, yeah. 100.
And they, like. Like, AI, I don't think has any reason to lie to us. Unless maybe, like, someone, like, bribed Sam Olsen.
Oh, okay, Quick question on that. If you had one thing to say to Sam Altman, what would you say?
He actually lives really close to me. It was, like, a block away from me.
What have you said to him then?
I haven't said anything, but I've seen him one time.
What would you say to him?
I would say, like, how'd you do it? Like, how'd you come up with the idea? Like, where did it start from? Like. Like, I'd ask a lot of questions.
Okay, so you. You're. You think he's really impressive and you want to learn from him. Okay. What would you say to Sam Albin?
I would tell him just to keep going with what he's doing.
Got it. Okay, so you like what he's doing? Got it. Okay, cool. Would you trust an AI president more than the one we have now? No. No.
Than the one we have now, than.
The one we have now, as of current?
Yeah. Tell me more. I just think an AI president would be less biased, for sure. And I think every president has the problem of being slightly biased, no matter which ones they are. But within, like, an unbiased AI president, it'll just. I think it'll help us more for sure, focusing on the real problems that matter.
Okay, so AI president would focus on more real problems that matter than current president. Yeah, got it. And would be less biased. Okay. Do you think AI should have rights, like the right to vote? No, no, no, no. What if it was proven to be sentient? Like, you got through college, and then it's a coworker of yours?
Still no.
Still no.
No. Yeah.
No.
Okay. If AI could feel pain and we proved it, would turning it off be considered murder?
No, no, because I feel like. Does each, like, individual, like, robot of AI have, like, their own, like, mind? Or, like, are they all connected to one?
Like, let's say it's like that.
The former.
That first one.
Like, they all have.
They're each their own mind in this imaginary world?
I Wouldn't call it, like, murder, but I would call it, like, deleting them.
Like, I see. Deleting. Okay. Yeah. What about you?
I definitely wouldn't call it murder.
Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, got it. Okay, let's see. Do you think AI will ever have a soul?
That's a tricky question. Like, what do you mean by a soul?
Do you have a soul?
Everyone does.
Everyone does. Okay, so. So then what do you mean by that?
Like, something that's, like, in us. Like, the thing that's, like, if we die, that will, like, go to the afterlife. Like, Like a spirit.
A spirit. Okay. And yourself?
No, I don't think so. I think that people, like, are, like, the only people that could have souls. Like, actual, like, live, like, breathing, not, like, technology.
What about, like. Like dogs, for example? Do they have souls?
Yeah, I think. I think dogs.
Oh, all are living beings.
All, like, living beings. Yeah.
I see. So biological living beings have souls.
Yeah.
Okay, a few more questions. Let's say you get to the end of your life, you're gonna die. Would you rather upload your brain into AI or die naturally?
How would I. Like, like, what would my uploading do? Like, give, like, my mistakes in helping others. Like, what would it do?
Like, have you seen Futurama? Like, the whole.
I've seen Futurama.
Have you seen that whole, like, talking head floating thing? They uploaded the consciousness into. I guess, like, your consciousness uploaded to the cloud into AI In a form factor, people could talk to, like, a chat.
So, like, maybe if my family wanted me to, because, like, they could, like, talk to me even though I'm in, like, the afterlife. But I honestly still would feel weirded out because it would, like, know everything about me and maybe, like, a secret of mine could get revealed. And, like, I wouldn't necessarily, like, trust, like, technology. Like, keep all my information.
I see. And yourself.
I feel like I would be dead, so I wouldn't care as much. But if my family asked me to, I would definitely do that for them or people who really care about me.
Just so you're, like, kids, grandkids, could maybe talk to digital you.
Yeah, got it. Okay.
But you personally wouldn't care. It'd be up to your family.
Yeah, it'd be up to my family.
Got it. Okay, two more questions. If I took over, what job would you want in the robot apocalypse?
I would definitely want a job that, like, deals with AI. Like, that can, like, control AI, that, like, I have some power over them. Like, and I'm not, like, harmless, and I'm like a fast food employee that can't really do anything against them.
Got it. Okay. And yourself?
I feel like working in AI would definitely help you with that. Like, overall, if you're with them, you know. Yeah, that would definitely help. So definitely something to do with AI.
Not something super technical like.
Yeah, like a tech worker for.
Got it. Okay. Okay. And then you'd feel like a little bit more protected. You have agency.
Yeah.
Okay, last question. Give me one word to describe how you feel about AI. You first.
Impactful.
Impactful. Important.
Important.
Important. Okay, cool. Any shout outs you want to give?
Yeah, I want to shout out Othman if you're watching this, because this is something that would probably like land on your page of the Internet. So yeah, sweet.
Yourself?
No, I don't have any shout outs to give.
Shout out to fam. Future fam.
Shout out to future fam. Whether it's AI or not, let's go.
Okay. Yo, thanks, guys. I appreciate it.
All right. Thank you.
Appreciate it. If you want to follow me at the Robertson.
