Unfiltered AI Talk: "People Are Lonely - That's Why They Use AI Every Day" | Episode [18]

This is a YouTube interview (Unfiltered AI Talk Ep.18) featuring Amy, a UC Berkeley undergraduate studying economics and psychology. Amy expresses mixed concern about AI displacing simple/repetitive jobs, doubts about AI companionship or AI holding voting rights, ethical concerns about AI interactions with vulnerable people (cites harmful ChatGPT case) and corporate priorities (leaked memo), cautious use of AI for school (cross-checks results), interest in marketing/psychology career overlap, and openness to domestic robot help for chores. The conversation combines rapid-fire opinion questions with personal anecdotes about loneliness, parenting concerns, and job prospects.
Ready? Is the lighting good from you being there? Cool. Okay, awesome. You want to come a little closer to my dog? Yeah. Great. And so what's your name?
Amy.
Amy, cool. So Amy, do you think AI is going to kill us all or take our jobs?
I think it depends on what kind of job you take. If it's like kind of simple, repetitive job, is easily taken by AI, like some like front desk agents, something like that. But if you provide some like emotional support or like something very, very like scientifically related, I think it's definitely not a replace my AI.
Got it. Okay. And how do you spend your days?
I'm student, UC Berkeley. Yeah.
Cool. What do you study on?
Econ and psychology.
Okay. Are you worried about your job in the future? Job prospects?
Probably a little bit.
A little bit. So like 10 out of 10 is, oh, I'm so worried I gotta change majors and one is like not worried at all. Where are you at?
5 or 6? 5 even like 6.
6. So what are you thinking to do about that?
I don't know because like I'm still like undergrad. So like what, what I learned is just simple. So I think, you know, every homework can be solved by AI. Like every test can be solved by AI. So why I'm like staying here to learn a class for several hours, that's the concern I have. But I don't know if I moved to a job field. What's going on yet.
Okay, interesting. So can I ask you some rapid fire questions? So thoughts on what if we had an AI president versus the current president? Thoughts on that?
I prefer real person. Real person? Yeah.
Okay. Do you think it'd be better or worse than the current?
The current? Maybe that's. Yeah.
Is that kind of like you got to think about it. That's pretty bad, right?
I didn't think about it. But the general president, definitely a real person. But for this one, I don't know.
Yeah. Okay. Okay, interesting. Okay, Another thought is, what about AI companionship? Would you ever go for an AI boyfriend?
No, I would never try that.
Absolutely not.
It's like ethical question for me.
Ethical question. Tell me more. Why ethical?
Because definitely like AI is the combination of all most of people's mind. Like they extract most of people's data mind. So I don't think like who I'm dating with is there like 10 million people or something like that.
Okay, got it. Oh, okay. So you're like. Because AI is just made up of a lot of people's data. Who is it? That? Yeah. Oh, that's Interesting. Okay, so what if you did have a boyfriend and you caught them cheating with an AI?
Wow.
What do you think? Would it be better or worse than if they cheated on you with a real person?
Wow. I can never think that question. Yeah.
Yeah. Wow.
Interesting though, maybe a little bit like, lighter. Lighter for like, like a real person. Because I don't really like believing that people can have a deep, like, relationship with AI in a kind of emotionally way.
So you might forgive them then.
Yeah.
It's like a salvageable thing.
Yeah. I may be mad for summer days, but yeah. Yeah. I will ask her. Ask him, like, what's going on? Yeah.
What is it about? Okay, but if it was real person, you'd be like, it's over.
Yeah.
Yeah. So that's like. Okay, another question. What if AI gets so smart? Should it get voting rights?
Definitely not.
Okay.
Yeah.
Even if there are like, AI workers in the workforce.
No, no, no.
Okay.
It's kind of unethical for them to vote because it's, as I mentioned before, his opinion for a -thousand or like 10 million people, you couldn't like, vote based on that.
Yeah, I see. Okay, Got it. Because it's not an actual sentient being.
It's not like a kind of opinion or it will not like, contribute to the world. It's just like you have everybody's opinion and, you know, like, made them into paragraphs and use whatever evidence to like, support your like, opinions.
And you said you're an econ and psychology.
Yeah.
Is one route there going to therapy or some sort of counseling with the.
Psychology side, I'm pretty. I'm like, maybe my job career is kind of marketing related because I want to like, combine those things together.
Oh, very cool.
Yeah.
Okay.
I. I do know that a lot of friends are want to go to therapy or something like that.
Got it. Okay. So on the marketing front, that's where you're speaking from in terms of job security, you're not sure if there's job security on the marketing front? Yeah.
Like for the marketing part, I do know that AI did a very good, like, job on advertisement or whatever. They're like pretty good, like, you know, writers.
Yeah.
So that's what I concerned. But for me, like, I think in marketing field, like, it's still human. Have their, like, things to do rather than just solely depend on AI.
Got it. Did you. Another question. Did you hear about the case where chatgpt encouraged a. A student to commit suicide? Did you hear about that?
No, but I think that's.
What do you Think about. Yeah, what do you think about that? That's just one case that we're aware of when the parents are taking action. But the student confided or the child confided in ChatGPT that he was depressed, and ChatGPT was just like a yes man and encouraged him to do it, and they ended up ending his life.
I think that's definitely an OpenAI's flawed. I think this should be, like, banned. This kind of topic should be sensitive, or at least they need to mention that. Please call 911. I think those answers are super underdeveloped.
Yeah. And another question. So there was an internal memo leaked from Facebook. So Mark Zuckerberg runs Facebook, and there was a memo leaked by employees saying that they reviewed chatbots interacting with children and talking about sexual things. And they were okay with that as long as it got more engagement. What do you think about that?
Definitely no.
Do you think that's like. Yeah. Thoughts on that?
It's, like, legal issue, definitely. I think based on today's society, like, on AI develops so fast, but the reality, like law, like, things, it hasn't developed anything. Yeah, that's the reason either. Like, ethical way, like, sexual way. How's the thing like protecting children, protecting women, putting, like, lgbtq, whatever.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So, okay, so if you had one thing to say to people building the tools, like Sam Altman and Mark Zuckerberg, if you had one thing to say to the people building AI, Mark Zuckerberg, Sam Altman, what would you say?
I would say since you are big companies, you need to contribute, like, to the society as a whole, not just to contribute your wealth. I think AI is definitely a great tool, but you need to develop it into a way that you can benefit the society more. Not to make society like rose.
Got it. Okay, interesting last question. So do you have roommates? You're in college?
I live by myself.
Live by yourself. Okay. You got household chores you got to take care of and stuff like that, right? What if you had an AI robot helping you with your chores? Would you like that?
I would love that.
What kind of chores that you would like to give away to the AI?
I don't know if, like, robot can help me deal with all the, like, household things. That would be good. But rather than that, don't, like, just don't enjoy my life too, too much.
Just. Just the domestic chores.
Just like, yeah, just clean my bed, clean my soba, my kitchen, dishes and stuff.
Okay, got it. Okay. Another question. Do you want to have a family someday? Have you thought about that? Like have kids and stuff? Someday maybe. Maybe. So how do you think about raising kids in the age of AI? Thoughts on that? Seems kind of scary to me.
Definitely. Like the kids can get more like resources when they grew up. So that I need to tell him to differentiate between like true resources that is good for their lives and like horrible like resources that maybe you know, promoting like suicide something. Right now I need to tell them from very young age how to differentiate. I at least I need to tell them like what is AI? How like reliable AI is and how is AI different from the other people? Yeah, so that's the main concern that Yeah, I think definitely AI is a good tool. But actually I don't want my kids to like engage into like AI and too young, at least they are like 10 to 12. I say okay, you are good to use AI something. Yeah.
Okay, so let's say in this future you have this family, you have your kids and they started dating an AI. What would you do? What did you, what would you do if your kids started dating AI?
Oh wow. I need to think that is, is there something like in real life and he or she miss so that he like they convert their like emotional needs to AI. Yeah. So I need to have IT talk to them to see what's going on.
Yeah, got it. So it points to a deeper problem. Emotion. Yeah, that's how you try to start.
Yeah. Maybe because like in word society people are more like lonely. They don't, don't have like close friends. That's the reason like AI, they try to every day asking them like homework.
Yeah, got it. Okay. And quick question. How do you use AI today?
Today I lose my computer, so I didn't use any. I'm trying to like oh, not, not.
Very today but like, and you know.
In, in, in general, recently in general, like on. I use them to definitely like search for some school works.
Yeah.
But based on like you know, writing essays or you know, taking tests, even sometimes search for AI. But I definitely need to check for myself for another round for for example like Google research or looking through the textbook, something. Yeah, I don't trust AI that often.
Got it. Okay. So there's you, you want to check on it. You don't want to trust it right away. Okay. Any last minute things on like existential risk to humanity or you know, are we going to die? That kind of thing. Like do you think anything of the future of humanity at this age.
For AI?
Yeah, just like are we going to survive?
You know, I think yes, because like, I think definitely, like AI couldn't reproduce, you know, human beings. And at least we all like exist in this planet. Yeah, but how many people get job, lose. How many people like you have more power like after AI age? I don't know. Yeah, maybe like 20 years later. People have their own way to compete with AI.
I see, I see. Okay, any shout outs that you want to give friends, family, whatever.
It's okay, it's okay, it's okay.
Okay, well, I wanted to say thank you so much for this. I really appreciate it. If you want to follow me and DM me, I'll have my social team tag you when we post it out. The Robert T. The and then Robert and then. Oh yeah, if you want, I could, I could get you on that now. Instagram or Tik Tok, whatever, whatever. I'm on everything.
