If you're stuck in your head, move your body. If you're reactive to everything around you, practice stillness. You can't fix emotional dysregulation by doing more of what already got you there.
Are you in your own head a lot? I am too. That's called being interoceptive. Leaning. Your mind's running at a mile a minute. You can't stop the train. I find that somatic therapy helps a lot. Running, climbing, getting theragunned lacrosse ball myself, stretching, yoga. That gets you into the body, out of your head. Now, if you're on the other side, you're kind of like that person that's like, oh, squirrel. Oh, my gosh. New things. New things. That means that you're out of your head. You're in your body a lot. External stimuli really get to you. You're more exteroceptive. Leaning. So what does that mean? To regulate, go the other way. Practice mindful meditation. Tong lin meditation, if you're into that. Breathing in and out, focusing on the breath and doing guided meditation, staying still, journaling. Those are good things to help regulate. Depending on which way you lean. So which way do you lean? Get after it either way.
