Thomas Messerschmidt demonstrates the electronics inside an all-aluminum R2D2 replica, showing how LED lights on a circuit board feed through fiber optics bundled into a plastic panel to create the droid's signature light display.

The logic display? Yeah. This one right here? Yeah. How do you do that one? That one's a bunch of LED lights on the back on a board, and then I have, um, what, uh, um, I'm trying to remember the name of that. Fiber optic. Fiber optic, correct. It's a bunch of fiber optics hooked up to like a little piece of plastic with a bunch of little holes, and then they run into it to get them a lot closer.
