Ted Bird says investors largely ignore startup pitches on conference networking apps. He warns founders to stop relying on chance encounters and instead research specific funds that match their needs, treating investor outreach like a real fundraising strategy.

The criticism is that the investors, the VCs, you know, in particular at these meetings are just don't participate in the app and they're not, you know, responding to the invitations from the startups that are there to try and raise money. And so my message is don't rely on just even using the conference app or getting there to have your meetings. Hopefully, you know, by happenstance, by bumping into somebody. You have to really, as you do with any fundraising, successful capital fundraising campaign, you have to research, target, and identify the appropriate, you know, investor fund that is appropriate for you.
