Ted Bird and Tiger Buford explain the 7-7 rule for pitch decks: no more than seven words per line and seven lines per slide. Investors read faster than you speak, so too much text pulls their attention away from you. Use images and charts instead.
And the 7-7 guideline is no more than 7 words on a line and no more than 7 lines on a slide. I like that because I've seen a number of decks where there's so much text, uh, that, uh, there's no way you can really capture all of that.
The other, the other piece is that investors are smart people and they can read way faster than you can talk. So they're gonna read the entire slide before you even get it out. And you want them looking at you, not your slides. So that's another reason to have less words, just less and less and less.
Keep it as simple as possible. Fewer words, you know, use more images, right? This is my next point, you know, use pictures. I mean, charts, graphs, expand upon your ideas and clarify points.
