Paul DeJuliis describes how ALM Ortho is building a digital platform to speed up surgeon approvals for orthopedic device designs. Right now the process is scattered: some surgeons respond by email, others need reminders, and DocuSign signatures slow things down. The new app lets surgeons review and approve designs on their phones in one place.

Is the surgeon communication over an app or email or cloud thing? Depends on the surgeon, to be honest. We have some surgeons who, you know, I'll email, you know, Dr. Rosbrook at, you know, about Thursday night and he gets it back to me before Friday morning. But I mean, you know, other surgeons, you give them the design proposals and, you know, you have to constantly remind them that we need a signature before we can move forward to manufacturing. So we are obviously working on a platform to simplify communications with surgeons, right? We're in process with that. It's a platform where we've got all our design steps in place, but you actually have digital, digital communication with the surgeon so he can pull up on his phone, review the designs there, and even approve it right there and then, right? That's in process at the moment, but we're still in some cases, you know, still doing DocuSign.
