A surgeon suggests professional societies like the North American Spine Society could endorse and promote new surgical technologies their members develop. The challenge: hospitals operate on tight budgets where adopting one innovation means cutting something else.
Would it be valuable if the society started endorsing extraordinary technology?
What do you mean?
Meaning, like the North American Spine Society, surgeons are starting to work on their own products, and as a society, they can advocate for certain technologies. Potentially, we're talking about this.
I think if they could get the government to increase reimbursement, Or get reimbursement? Yes. Not saying they shouldn't advocate. If it's a good technology that brings a real difference, you should advocate for it, right? I mean, but, but again, I have the exact— there is no more money coming our way unless the government or the payers give us more money to be able to spend on it. Otherwise, you know, we have to go down the road of figuring out the offset somewhere else. And we may do that. I'm not saying we never do that, but it is the same pot of money.
