Capitan Orthopedics was founded to treat irreparable rotator cuff tears in patients aged 35-60, who fall through a gap in current care. Over 50% of people over 50 have asymptomatic partial tears, and 700,000 patients undergo rotator cuff repair annually. These younger patients face pain with overhead activities but are too young for reverse shoulder replacement.

So, Capitan Orthopedics. We created the organization, the company, to fill the gap in rotator cuff treatment. If you are 50 years or older, you have greater than a 50% chance that you already have a non-symptomatic partial tear of your supraspinatus in rotator cuff. Each year, 2 million patients actually have a rotator cuff injury, or say diagnosed with a rotator cuff injury, and over 700,000 seek a primary surgical intervention to repair a rotator cuff tear. But the big, big problem here in this care continuum, which goes from left to right, as you can see, there is a massive space in here, especially for the patient that is 35 to 60 years old. And what we see with them is an irreparable cuff tear. And what do you do with these patients? I mean, those are, that's real life situation. That's a problem. You know, I can't even change the light bulb up overhead because it just, it starts to ache so much after about 30 seconds. That's what we're really addressing here. And, and those patients are just too young to be getting the reverse.
