BusCaro founder saw firsthand the daily struggles of women in public transit

In this spoken monologue, the BusCaro founder explains why she is uniquely positioned to address the daily struggles women face in public transit. She recounts moving to Pakistan in 2017 to work at Careem, then joining Swivel where she realized ride‑hailing economics were unsustainable. After Swivel’s global shutdown and an inability to raise funds locally, she bootstrapped BusCaro, investing every penny she could. She also describes personal hardships: dropping out of college because commuting was impossible, and spending roughly 90 % of her early salary on travel. These experiences fuel her belief that commuting should not be a barrier for anyone, especially women, and she highlights the importance of female representation in the tech and transit space.
