Hotels and offices get cheap tap water while many people avoid it entirely. Water quality varies wildly by region: southern France and North Africa have poor or unavailable tap water. This gap drives a multi-hundred-billion-dollar bottled water industry.

So I'm a little confused though, because a hotel or an office can get much cheaper water. From where? From the tap. Tap? Because you live in the US. You go to southern France now or northern Africa, the water tap is very bad quality. Sometimes you open the tap and there is no water at all. Why it is a multi-hundred billion dollars market, this bottled water? Because people do not drink tap water anymore. The quality is very bad and you cannot even filter it in North Africa.
