In this interview excerpt, the founder explains why he moved to Pakistan in 2017 to address the country's severe urban mobility challenges. Motivated by the belief that the problem could be solved, confidence in his team's ability, and direct demand from thousands of customers seeking reliable transport, he launched Buskoto. The company’s mission is to provide affordable, safe, and reliable transportation, pricing rides at roughly 20% of typical ride‑hailing services and about a quarter of a rickshaw’s cost. To date Buskoto has completed over 9 million bookings with an on‑time performance exceeding 99%, illustrating its scale and operational effectiveness.

Did that for a couple of reasons. One, because it hadn't been fixed, didn't think that means it can't be. Two, we thought we were the best team to solve for this. And three, I had thousands of customers reaching out to me that didn't know how they would get around the next day. So Buskoto was launched. It is addressing a problem that millions of Pakistanis and people all over the world face, both from an affordability and safety and reliability perspective. We are able to provide this on a price point that works out to be about 20% of ride-hailing, a quarter of what a rickshaw costs in Pakistan. Over 99% of the 9 million bookings we've done so far have been on time.
