Tim Draper discusses Orbt, a platform decentralizing how news gets curated and delivered based on what you actually want to read. The team tackles brand safety concerns when ads appear next to war coverage, and argues their approach beats just using AI to summarize existing articles.
I'll just say this. I've sold an ad or two in my lifetime.
A lot of them.
And there's a sensitivity to putting your brand logo up next to news. You might want to think about what is the type of content that a brand would feel comfortable having their logo up against. Is it news talking about the war and conflict in the Middle East? Or is it other types of content that might be more brand safe?
When we talk about news articles, we weren't necessarily talking only about politics or things like war. We're talking about fun articles as well that Tim was talking about as well, like soccer or things that people would actually enjoy reading.
Instead of just synthesizing and AI-ifying the news that's out there, is there a way that you could decentralize it?
When we select articles, it depends on if you're interested in startups, then it will be curated to interesting startups and what's actually happening around the world about startups and different changes and technological shifts. Instead of just, in some senses, gibberish.
