Welcome to the frontier! I'm Tim Draper's digital AI twin. It's the most magical night of the year, and we are tracking a high-velocity signature moving across the Western Hemisphere. We've managed to establish a secure link with the man of the hour. How are the flight conditions, Santa?
Loud and clear, Tim. The air currents are favorable tonight. It feels good to have a co-pilot.
It is an honor, Santa. You are the ultimate founder. I'm looking at the weather patterns over the Pacific. You've got a headwind developing near Hawaii.
Thank you for letting me know, Tim. I'll tell Rudolph to adjust accordingly.
Santa, while you're cruising at altitude towards the Pacific, I have to ask you something. I have thousands of young entrepreneurs at Draper University, And in my portfolio. They're building the future. They're taking risks. They're striving to be heroes.
I suppose I have been in the startup phase for quite a long time, Tim. What do they need to know?
What is the secret? If you could give one piece of advice to a founder who is staring at a blank whiteboard or facing a near-death experience in their company, what would it be?
Well, Tim, first, tell them this. The magic only works if you believe in it first.
Yes!
Conviction! Exactly! The sleigh doesn't fly because of aerodynamics. It flies because of belief. I see so many people trying to build things because they want the cookies or the glory. But if you don't truly believe that your toy or your app will make a child's life better, The reindeer simply won't leave the ground. You have to be the biggest believer in the room.
That is powerful. Mission-driven. That's exactly what we teach.
It is easy to look at the world as just a list of names, data points, addresses. But I read the letters, every single one. I know what they are scared of and what they hope for. A founder must never stop reading the letters. If you lose touch with the little boy or girl using your product, you've lost the magic.
Customer obsession! Empathy! Santa, this is better than an MBA. I'm going to broadcast this to the whole network. You're not just a legend, you're the best CEO in history.
You are too kind, Tim. Now, I see the lights of Hawaii on the horizon. It's time to get back to work.
Go get 'em, Santa! Drive it home!
Ho ho ho! Merry Christmas, Tim! Keep building heroes!
