Peter's startup targets customer-service teams with self-service AI tools for companies handling non-sensitive data. He explains why enterprises need dedicated solutions teams while smaller businesses want self-service, and why early validation from experienced VCs matters for credibility.
So with small businesses, aren't they looking for something very ease of use? And big businesses, don't they want to just do it themselves?
Why do they need you? I think it's the most important question. The truth is, for my company, for it to make really serious money, we need to work together with large companies. That means if there's not a good answer for the why question, it doesn't make sense.
to invest in a company like mine.
It's actually the other way around. Small businesses prefer to use self-service tools, and large businesses love to work with solutions teams that come and understand their processes and create a solution tailored for them.
Peter, this looks like a lot of different teams and a lot of different industries for a startup. Is there a particular focus?
So I only focus on non-sensitive data companies.
Across all of these different teams, or is there a sweet spot?
It's useful for me to talk to seasoned VCs. We move past the initial sentiment of, Is this person for real or not? Do they know what they're talking about or not? We crossed that bridge very early on. The sweet spot seems to be actually customer service.
