Texas Republican Congressman Tony Gonzalez, he will not seek reelection after a scandal involving explicit text messages to a staff member. Images showed Gonzalez using sexual language and repeatedly pushing the aide Gina Santos-Aviles to send explicit photos. Unreported message asked her to send a sexy pic. Relationship itself would violate House ethics rules banning sexual relationships between members of Congress and their staff. Makes me think of like George Costanza when he was caught fooling around with the maid at the office. Was that wrong? If somebody told me that was wrong, I mean, this guy seems utterly clueless. The woman later died by suicide, September 2025, after setting herself on fire according to police records.
