A short YouTube video by TJ Walker advising people to set small, realistic exercise goals and build habits gradually rather than aiming for large, abrupt changes. Walker recommends replacing large, unlikely targets (for example, an hour at the gym daily) with minimal, sustainable steps (for example, a 10-minute walk after work) to reduce friction and increase consistency.

If you've been going to the gym every day for the last 10 years, working out for an hour every day, great. Please continue it. But if you've started and stopped a gazillion times and you belong to a whole bunch of gyms and never made it past February, guess what? Don't tell yourself I'm going to work out at the gym every day for an hour starting tomorrow. It's not going to happen. In all likelihood, it's too big a goal. There's too much friction. There's too many things you don't like about going to the gym. Instead, figure out how to do something that's just a little bit better than what you're doing now. If you come home and sit on the couch for four hours after a day of work, then instead start by coming home and just walking for 10 minutes. Head in the right direction. Exercise every day. Walking for 10 minutes is the right direction. Starting a goal like an hour at the gym every day and not making it past one day is going nowhere. Please follow the TJ Walker habit.
