If you haven't seen it, I'd suggest you go to YouTube and Google will Ferrell, Talladega Nights, Ricky Bobby and look at hands. He's doing an interview and he's like, I don't know what to do with my hands. It's a question I get every single time I do a public speaking training or media training around the world. People say, well, tj, what do I do with my hands when I speak? I know I don't want to gesture too much and be distracting. Here's the thing, folks. I've worked with 10,000 people for 30 years. I've never yet had anyone like a Will Ferrell have their hands just floating around weirdly during an interview or a speech. The far bigger problem is freezing the hands. Holding pens, remotes, holding a lectern. The thing to do with your hands is just to move them naturally as you do day long when you speak. So stop worrying about nonsense. The possibility of you waving your hands around being distracting like Will Ferrell, Extremely. About the same. Chances of you getting a multi million dollar offer as a comedian in a movie, very slim. Let's worry about the real risk. The real risk is you give a speech and you're so darn boring nobody remembers anything. Let's worry about real risk, not hypothetical risk of moving your hands too much. I'm TJ Walker. Thanks for joining me. I help people speak their best because how you speak is the number one factor in your success.
