TJ WALKER - THE HABIT INFLUENCER - Personal Development | LIVE STREAM

Short live-stream segment by TJ Walker advising salespeople to use Skype video (or pre-recorded video) for sales presentations to build rapport, show visual materials, and increase close rates. He prefers Skype over WebEx/GoToMeeting because of lower friction; if prospects refuse live video, send a recorded personalized video. Ends with a call-to-action to view online media training courses.

Sales presentation, tip of the day. Use Skype video with every prospect. How many times have we heard a salesperson say, well, if I can just sit down face to face, have a one on one conversation with the prospect, well, that's easy as pie. I can sell that person anytime. The whole difficulty is building that relationship to the point where they're willing to spend a little time talking to me face to face. Well, here's a technique I use. I don't wait till some perfect moment and months of courting. If someone calls me or emails me, I just ask them, can we have a brief video Skype conference? And if they don't want to put their video camera on, that's fine, but at least they can see me. And it creates a more powerful connection than just talking on the phone, especially if you have anything visual about a product or service that you sell. Now, I sell public speaking skills and media skills. So for someone to be able to see me speaking, I think is important. I also think it helps me close the sale and it makes them more comfortable dealing with me. Now the reason I say Skype over WebEx or GoToMeeting is I find a lot of people, if they haven't used WebEx or GoToMeeting, they're just not comfortable with the idea of you got to click here, sometimes download something, give permission. If they already use Skype, and these days so many people do that they already have an account. People are more likely to have a Skype account than they are a WebEx account. Then they're comfortable with the process. It's just easy for them. They give you their address, boom, you call them. They don't have to do anything else. So that's why I like Skype. Now what do you do if they just won't consent to having a conference with you through Skype video? I'll say the same thing I would have said on the Skype video and just record the video as I am now and send it to them. Nobody's ever said, well, I sure would have hired you. But the fact that you took the time to produce a video really explaining your services and how you could benefit us in great detail. Now I'm not going to hire. No one's ever said that. And I don't think that they would even, I don't think they would for any reason. There's plenty of reasons to hire or not hire any firm, but giving them more information that's useful to them and how you can help them is typically always going to work in your favor. So if you are in sales and you give a lot of sales presentations, don't rely on having to be face to face. Give them a sales presentation through video. And I don't mean just your voice and showing a bunch of slides. I mean let them see you either live through Skype video or by simply creating a video and talking to them as if you were leaving an extended voicemail can be quite effective. I'm TJ Walker.
